Annee’s shaking up the Townsville art scene
Lovers of Annee’s and art will soon be in for a double treat in Flinders Lane
with the popular Vietnamese coffee brand bringing renowned
Australian artist Claire Foxton to Townsville for a unique mural project.
Claire will paint an original piece inspired by Annee's Caphê Sua Da founder Annee Nguyen’s journey from the home she was born in, to her Chinese zodiac sign of the Ox,
as well as her business’s evolution from a small market stall in Cairns,
to now North Queensland’s leading Vietnamese coffee brand.
To coincide with Claire’s visit, Annee’s will hold a special Annees After Dark event with an pop-up art exhibition and is putting the call out for local artists to get involved.
“Coffee and art are the perfect combination,” said Owner Annee Nguyen said.
“Our team has mastered the art of creating the perfect Vietnamese iced coffee, and now Claire
will use her artistic flare and skill to capture that journey for us,” she said.
“It will not only create an extra dimension to the Annee’s guest experience, but it will provide our team an immersive experience into the history and evolution
of Annee’s every day when they come to work.”
Claire is no a stranger to Townsville’s art scene, having completed the ‘Sound
and Movement Personified’ mural in collaboration with Dancenorth and Townsville City Council in 2018.
Annee’s will remain open and operational while Claire completes her new work, giving
guests a chance to see it come to life in front of their eyes.
She will also take part in the Annees After Dark event and exhibition in the
Flinders Lane Cocktail Room, giving local artists a chance to showcase their
work and mingle with one of the Country’s leading artists.
It will also mark the unveiling of another Annee’s masterpiece -Australia’s first Vietnamese Coffee Liqueur, created in collaboration with Cairns
local legends Wolf Lane Distillery. Annees After Dark will transform Annee's
into a Vietnamese Coffee Martini Bar for the event.
Flinders Lane Owner Martin Locke said combining art, hospitality and
entertainment was always a strong vision for Townsville’s newest CBD
hospitality and events hub.
“We have had great interest and support from the local art community holding
exhibitions in our Flinders Lane spaces as well as arts and craft holiday
activities,” Mr Locke said.
“There are so many opportunities we are committed to exploring, including
live art demonstrations, murals and digital art displays or exhibitions,” he said.
“It will be fantastic to have the art community come together with Annee’s to showcase our local and national talent and share their ideas too.”
Claire will be on site creating in the week beginning 16 October with the
Annee After Dark Event and Exhibition to be held on Friday 21 October
from 4pm – 9pm.
